iCar Steve Jobs dream
Apple board member and J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler has revealed that Steve Jobs had dreamt of designing an iCar before his death. While he never actually designed it, it is interesting to imagine how that car would have turned out.
It wasn't just the consumer electronics that fascinated Jobs, he re-imagined yachts, staircases and even medical equipment. According to Drexler, he used to design all sorts of stuff in his hospital bed. Speaking at Fast Company's recent Innovation Uncensored conference, Drexler expressed sadness at the current state of automobile industry in United States. "Steve's dream before he died was to design an iCar," he added.
Jobs reimagined a complete overhaul of the auto industry, Drexler said while speaking at a recent Fast Company conference on innovation. After Jobs' demise of cancer in 2011, Apple pointed to his impact on consumers and wheels on its Web site, marking that more than 90 percent of new cars sold in the U.S. have an option for iPod connectivity. Drexler said: "Look at the car industry; it's a tragedy in America.
Who is designing the cars?. Steve's dream before he died was to design an iCar and it would've been probably 50 percent of the market. He never did design it." Steve Jobs has amazed the whole world with electronic gadgets such as the hugely popular iPhone, iPad (tablet), an iPod (music player). Let's hope Apple implements Jobs' ideas and comes out with a great car design.
An interesting fact about Jobs is that he used to travel across the Silicon Valley in a Mercedes car with no number plates. Officials say that he made use of the Californian law that one could use a car in the state without registering for six months. He traded a Mercedes every six months for a new one and never had the requirement to fit number plates.
