'Top Chef', hosted by Indian model Padma Lakshmi, won the award for outstanding reality series at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, beating off competition from 'The Amazing Race', which had won in the category for the past seven years.

Indian-origin British actress Archie Panjabi, who starred in films like 'Bend it like Beckham' and ' East is East', bagged best supporting actress in a drama series for her role in 'The Good Wife'.

Panjabi was pitted against the likes of Rose Byrne (Damages), Sharon Gless ( Burn Notice), Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks (both for 'Mad Men') and co-star Christine Baranski for 'The Good Wife'. She made her film debut in the British hit film 'East Is East' in 1999 and went on to star in international blockbuster films like 'Bend It Like Beckham' in 2002, imdb.com reported.

'Mad Men', a dark period drama set in 60's New York and comedy series 'Modern Family', a mockumentary about three families, won the top honours. It won the Emmy for best TV drama for the third year in a row, while 'Modern Family' took home the trophy for outstanding comedy at the awards presented.

The comic series took home four more awards including the best supporting actor trophy which went to Eric Stonestreet and an award for writers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd.

 George Clooney, who led a galaxy of stars in a January telethon fundraiser for Haiti's earthquake victims, received a special Emmy for his humanitarian efforts.

'Glee', the musical series, which led with 19 nominations, won Emmys for supporting actress Jane Lynch and director Ryan Murphy.

In the drama category, Kyra Sedgwick won the best actress trophy for 'The Closer' while Bryan Cranston was named best lead actor for his performance in 'Breaking Bad'.

'The Pacific', a 10-part opus about World War II combat in the Pacific theater, won the Emmy for outstanding miniseries.
