"Journalism has witnessed rapid changes which have also affected the thinking of people. In such conditions, the role of journalists working towards bringing social issues on the forefront assumes significance," said Allahabad University vice-chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe. He was speaking on the second day of the annual festival "Dastak 2010" at Centre of Media Studies on Saturday. On the occasion, Prof Harshe also released a book `Yahan Mukhaute Bikte hain' authored by senior journalist Prabhat Shungloo.
Presiding over the function, litterateur and editor of a Hindi magazine, Prof Rajendra Kumar said media is trying to develop a system based on the wishes of people and added that the writer has tried to portray the struggle between time and politics.
Renowned playwright Ajit Pushkal said we cannot ignore the issues raised by the writer while poet Harishchandra Pandey said that changing priorities of media is a matter of concern. Poet Yash Malviya said there are very few persons who are ready to face the reality.
Earlier, a talk on the `Changing facets of media' was also organised where senior members of Press Council of India and others shared their views on the topic. An exhibition of photographs, project work, portfolio and photo feature was also organised at the centre.
