The bodies of two children who went missing from Vanasthalipuram on Saturday were recovered from a 10-foot-deep pit near their houses at Mallikarjuna Nagar on Sunday. The pit, which was dug for laying the foundation of a building's column, was left open by workers.
Sai Vardhan, 8, son of Mr Yadaiah and Rajesh, 10, son of Mr Buggulaiah, went missing on Saturday after which their parents lodged a complaint with the Vanasthalipuram police.
On Sunday, the parents alleged that their children died due to the negligence of construction workers. Their relatives attacked the office of Gayathri Builders and Developers, to whom the site belongs. Mr Sudheer Reddy, MLA, went to the spot and pacified them. The GHMC central zone commissioner, Mr K. Bhaskar, said, "We will inquire into the matter and take action. We will ensure that proper safety measures are followed."
