Mahindra Axe is the first high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle in India launched by Mahindra and Mahindra. This vehicle is primarily launched to satisfy the requirements of Indian army and in future a civilian version of the vehicle will also be launched.  The vehicle has a 2696cc, 5-cylinder diesel engine. This engine can deliver power of 173 bhp at 4000 rpm along with peak torque of 346 Nm at 1800 rpm. The length of the vehicle is 4400mm and its height is 1980mm. The car has a muscular design and this ensures that the vehicle can be navigated through all kinds of terrain.

The Mahindra Axe review indicates that this vehicle will be replacing the Mahindra Jeeps in the Indian army. The vehicle is developed by using a new platform and this is designed to suit the Indian requirements. Initially the engines will be imported and later on these will be developed indigenously.
The petrol version employs 4L GM Votec engine. The suspension system of the vehicle is all wheel independent one and this gives the vehicle its excellent mobility. The Axe has Mercedes Benz transmission system.
The diesel version of the vehicle delivers mileage of around 8 to 9 km/litre while the petrol version of the vehicle can deliver mileage of 6 to 7 km/litre.
As this vehicle is created for the Indian army it does not have any luxurious features but some aspects of interiors like seats and other interior fitting have been taken from Mahindra Bolero. The civilian version incorporates certain cosmetic changes made to the dashboard.
