Residents will now be able to recover from various ailments through soothing sounds as the city's first music therapy centre  . Doctors explained that music has been a part of treatment for centuries, but the scientific exploration of its medicinal properties is a very recent development.  The music therapy centre will be headed by Sufi singer Zila Khan, who has extensively researched the therapeutic powers of music. "Music therapy is being started as a supportive treatment," she said.

The centre, which has been started in Fortis Noida, will not only act as a therapeutic cell for treatment, but also act as a tool for restoration, maintenance and improvement of physiological health of patients. The centre aims to treat patients suffering from a variety of diseases, including autism, dementia, depression, Parkinson's, Alzheimer and cancer, said doctors. The therapy will be used along with clinical treatments.
