http://simplybhangra.com/albumcovers/Oct09/BigPunjabiWeddingAlbum.jpgThe rich and vibrant culture of Punjab has gained big popularity over the years across the world. It gets strongly reflected during Punjabi weddings and other ceremonies. And, 'The Great Big Punjabi Wedding', a new music album promises to cater all that and much more.

Hosted by Music Today, it was a gala musical extravaganza organized in the capital to promote its latest music album "The Great Big Punjabi Wedding".

A multiple-album series, it features Punjabi wedding and other songs sung on various occasions or customs related to wedding like Suhag, Mehndi, Vidai from the bride's side and Sehra Bandi, Shagan from the bridegroom's side.

The album also caters to peppier occasions such as the Sangeet and Mehndi ceremonies.

All-time favourites such as 'Hakim Tara Chand' and 'Kala sha Kala' are done in complete youthful and contemporary party and Rap style to appeal the young audience.

"Many rituals are associated with Punjabi wedding and being a Punjabi I understand its traditions very well. But my dream is to extend this project by incorporating the traditions and culture of all other states-UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat," said Mala SekhriCoo, Music today

'The Great Big Punjabi Wedding' brought the nightingale of Bangladesh Runa Laila back to India to capture the essence of festive season with her songs.

During the concert, she performed tunes of her popular numbers 'Kala Sha Kala', 'Mera Babu Chhail Chhabeela' and 'Dama Dam Mast Qalandar'.

"Artistes don't belong to one country but to the whole world. We give the message of peace and tranquility through our skills, be it acting or music," said Runa Laila, Bangladeshi singer. Music is a religion, which brings the people of all the religions on one platform. People dance, listen to and enjoy music without categorizing themselves as Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus. I think there should be only one religion of music," said Jasbir Jassi, Punjabi singer.

One CD dedicated to Cocktail Night, done for the first time ever, features popular wedding songs, Boliyan and Tappas.

Sung in contemporary dance music style by Punjabi pop star Jasbir Jassi, the music is all set to enthrall all music lovers. By Shraddha Anand
